The California Department of Technology (CDT) is committed to improving the way you acquire, build, and deliver information technology (IT) solutions to better support an efficient, effective public experience with government programs.

During our efforts we created this Open Source Portal. It’s meant to encourage and make it easier for you to share new source code. Additionally, this makes code solutions broadly available for reuse across state government in a consistent manner. 

We aim to facilitate a collaborative atmosphere making it easier to:

• Conduct software peer review.
• Perform security testing.
• Reuse existing solutions.
• Ultimately, share technical knowledge.

Increasing the reuse of custom-developed code across state government can have significant benefits for taxpayers, including decreasing duplicative costs for the same code and reducing vendor lock-in.
